Puneeth Rajkumar to be awarded with Basavashree award on May 3

On May 3, Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar will get the Basavashree award for the year 2021 from the Murugha Mutt’s Basava Kendra in Chitradurga, and Puneeth’s wife Ashwini will receive the honour from Pontiff Dr Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru.

In the presence of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, District Minister BC Patil, and film actors Shivarajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar, the Pontiff will present the honour to Ashwini at the city’s Anubhava Mantapa. Puneeth was an Indian actor, playback singer, television presenter, and producer who was born in Chennai on March 17, 1975. He was fondly known as Appu.

He starred in 29 films as a lead actor, and he also appeared in a number of films as a child actor. Vasantha Geetha (1980), Bhagyavantha (1981), Chalisuva Modagalu (1982), Eradu Nakshatragalu (1983), Bhakta Prahaladha, Yarivanu, and Bettada Hoovu (1985) received critical acclaim for his performances. For his work as Ramu in Bettada Hoovu, he earned the National Film Award for Best Child Artiste. For Chalisuva Modagalu and Eradu Nakshatragalu, he also received the Karnataka State Award for Best Child Artist.

His second film career began in the early 2000s with the Kannada film Appu, which was favourably received by Kannadigas across the state and around the world.
