According to reports, Ranchi-based writer Vishal Singh has filed a copyright infringement complaint against Dharma Productions and Viacom 18, alleging that the parts of his film Punny Rani were used in JugJugg Jeeyo. He is said to have stated that the filmmakers did not offer him any credit.
With only four days to the film’s premiere, a commercial court in Ranchi has ordered the producers to preview the film in front of the court. In this instance, the writer has requested Rs 1.5 crore in compensation from the makers of JugJugg Jeeyo. It remains to be seen whether the court’s decision in this case will have an impact on the film’s release.
