Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Mahesh Babu’s next Telugu blockbuster, is in the works. The film’s anticipation are sky high, as the Tollywood superstar returns to the big screen after a two-year absence. But it’s not his project that’s causing all the buzz right now; it’s his latest declaration about making his Bollywood debut.
As can be seen, there has been a shift in viewers’ viewing patterns. Following the pandemic, viewers have been increasingly interested in programming from the South, particularly Telugu entertainment. While it’s great that regional films are no longer restricted to a single region, the social media war between Bollywood and the South is at an all-time high.
“I had a lot of proposals in Hindi,” Mahesh Babu said, “but I don’t think they can afford me.” I don’t want to waste my time in a field that cannot support me. I never considered quitting my industry and entering another because of the celebrity and respect I have here [in the South]. I’ve always wanted to make movies and becoming famous. My dream is now becoming a reality, and I couldn’t be happier.”
