The incident happened when he was to Beas from Amritsar. He reportedly stopped at a dhaba in Jandiala Guru to let his men answer the nature’s call. In his statement to the police, he alleged his gunmen wanted to go to washroom and therefore, he stopped his car near Gurdaspuria dhaba
According to him, that’s when two people on a bike stopped near his car and fired at him. He said that four gunshots hit his car. His gunmen hurled bricks at them after hearing gunshots but they all fled. Post this, he notified Jandiala Guru police about the incident and a team of cops reached the spot for further investigation. Harpreet Singh, Station House Officer, Jandiala Guru police station, said that the police recovered four empty shells from the spot.
“Following a preliminary probe, the matter was found to be suspicious and therefore further investigation was under progress,” he said adding that his security was withdrawn after multiple criminal cases were registered against him.
